Most of the time I correct the converging verticals on my shots in Photoshop but this time I've chosen not too as it serves to emphasize the height of the church spire.

Plaza de Castilla y Puerta de Europa

The Plaza de Castilla is a great plaza in the north of Madrid. The Puerta de Europa Towers are situated at the north end of the Plaza. The Caja Madrid Obelisk is erected directly in the center of the plaza.

The Puerta de Europa towers (Gate of Europe or just Torres KIO) are twin office buildings in Madrid. The towers have a height of 114 m (374 ft) and have 26 floors. They were constructed from 1989 to 1996.
They were designed by the American architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee. Each building is 115 m tall with an inclination of 15°, making them the first inclined skyscrapers in the world.

The Caja Madrid Obelisk is a monument designed by Santiago Calatrava located in the Plaza de Castilla in Madrid, Spain. It was donated by the bank Caja Madrid to the city.

Attaining the Unknown

Attaining the Unknown

“I believe in a long, prolonged derangement of the senses to attain the unknown.
Our pale reasoning hides the infinite from us.”
(Jim Morrison - American Poet and Singer, member of The Doors, 1943-1971)

This is the ceiling of the Sas-Bahu temple (mother-in-law and daughter-in-law temple) located in Gwalior, in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
This temple, initially dedicated to Vishnu, was built in red sandstone during the rule of the Kachchhapaghatas in the 10th century.
I was alone lying on the ground in the center of the temple, allowing all my senses to be free and for a while I felt that I was attaining something close to what I could name the unknown...
It was a strange and warm sensation provided by the architecture of this sophisticated game of spheres making a passage to the infinite...
